Lincoln-Way Students Bring Home 106 Recognitions in Essay Contest

In an effort to fine-tune writing skills, inspire love for reading, and get their creativity flowing, students from all Lincoln-Way High Schools participated in the nation-wide contest, "Letters about Literature." During the school year, teachers submit the students' letters to the contest, which is sponsored by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, and presented in cooperation with the Illinois Center for the Book, the Illinois State Library and Jesse White, Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian. On Saturday, May 7th, Lincoln-Way Central students attended their Prom at the Odyssey in Tinley Park. The "Come Fly with Me" theme was celebrated with a balloon launch at the end of the night, although the highlight of the dance occurred at 9 PM, when two students, Danny Gengo and Abby Devries, were elected by their peers as Prom King and Queen.[Read More]

Lincoln-Way Cadet will Compete Nationally for SAR Essay Contest

After taking a first place title in the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), Fox Valley Chapter essay contest, Lincoln-Way Cadet Teresa Kozak brought home another first place title at the state level on April 14. Each competitor was required to submit an essay entitled "How JROTC has prepared me to be a better citizen." After a thorough investigation conducted by Will County Sheriff’s Department, New Lenox Police Department, and Frankfort Police Department, it has been determined that there is no threat to the safety of our students. The soft lockdown at Lincoln-Way Central has been lifted, and the normal schedule has been resumed. At 7:57 this morning, a non-emergency call was placed to the New Lenox Police Department to report a person carrying an unidentified object walking eastbound on Route 30. Will County Sheriff has advised that we remain in lockdown for the time being. Per their request, we will continue to have increased security at the school.[Read More]
