The Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Foundation for Educational Excellence
was
instituted by the Board of Education in 1994 as a vehicle to generate alternative
sources of revenue to enrich and enhance the opportunities and educational
experiences of Lincoln-Way High School students. While District 210 has an
excellent curriculum for more than 6,200 students, the Board of Education
wanted to offer youngsters an educational edge.
The
Foundation is comprised of community members that have a strong
commitment
to the education of our youth and to Lincoln-Way High Schools,
with the vision of expanding the academic and social growth
of all students. The Foundation’s governing Board of
Directors is charged with the responsibility of raising and
disseminating funds enriching the educational opportunities
of the students.
During
the 2005-2006 school year the Foundation presented to the Board
of Education a total of $189,116. This is by far the largest
amount of money donated to the school in one year. In July
the Foundation presented a check to the Board of Education
in the amount of $67,500. This check was a result of the proceeds
from the House Raffle. In November, a second check in the amount
of $14,516 was presented to the Board of Education, representing
half of the proceeds from the Calendar Sale. It was this check
that brought the Foundation to the One Million Dollar Mark
in gifting to the schools. On Thursday, December 8, 2005, the
Foundation made its third donation in one year. This is the
first time in the Foundation’s history that this occurred.
The check presented that evening was for $107,100, a result
of the remaining proceeds from the Calendar Sale, Dinner Dance,
and Cents for Kids Program. With these three donations in one
fiscal year the district received $189,116 in funds for the
purchase of technology equipment such as ceiling mounted projectors
for computer labs, Elmo projectors with carts, LCD projectors
with screens, and laptop and desktop computers, library books
for both Lincoln-Way Central and East, books for classroom
libraries to support the District Reading Program, single mast
easels for the Art Department district wide and tape recorders
for the Foreign Language labs district wide. In addition, the
Board of Directors are proud to announce that ten percent (10%)
of each fundraising event is deposited into our Endowment Fund
which exceeded over $155,197.24 this year. This money is earmarked
for the awarding of twenty $500 academic scholarships to ten
graduating seniors at Lincoln-Way Central and ten at Lincoln-Way
East at the Honors Banquets in May.
The 2002-2003
school year was the first year for the Cents For Kids internal
fundraising event. Cents For Kids is an employee payroll deduction
program that gives employees the opportunity to voluntarily
request for cents to the right of the decimal point to be withdrawn
from their paycheck and deposited into the Foundation account.
Employees also have the option of pledging a specific amount
of money to be withdrawn from their paycheck. At this time,
we have thirteen percent (13%) of our employees participating
in this program.
As
a not-for-profit organization, the Lincoln-Way High School
District 210 Foundation
for Educational Excellence is chartered by the State of Illinois
as a qualified 501 © 3 charitable deduction.

While District
210 has an excellent curriculum for its more than 6,700 students,
the Board of Education wanted to offer youngsters an educational
edge. The District 210 Foundation does just that. The funds
raised consistently goes directly to student programs and equipment
with the money being distributed equally between the two high
schools.
Please help
us prepare our children for future challenges. Your support
is vital. Your contribution to the Lincoln-Way High School
Foundation for Educational Excellence will be gratefully received
