CREDIT: 1
GRADE PLACEMENT: 9 or 10 or 11 or 12
GRADUATION REQUIREMENT: Elective. May be used to satisfy one of three mathematics credits required for graduation.
COURSE SEQUENCE: May be taken as the first course in the mathematics sequence.
OTHER PREREQUISITES: Consent of the Math Department.
SUBSEQUENT COURSE: Plane Geometry or Geometry.
COURSE OVERVIEW: The goal of this course is to expose the student to basic algebra skills. Topics covered will include systems of equations and inequalities, polynomials, basic factoring, exposure to quadratic and exponential functions, radicals, and graphing various types of equations. After competency has been demonstrated, a calculator may be used. The type of calculator will require instructor approval.
