Psychology of the Mind SEMESTERS: 1 CREDIT: 1/2 GRADE PLACEMENT: 11 or 12 GRADUATION REQUIREMENT: Elective. COURSE SEQUENCE: None. OTHER PREREQUISITES: None. STUDENT AND STAFF ORGANIZATION: Conventional. COURSE OVERVIEW: This is one of two one-semester courses in psychology. Students will survey the place of psychology in the behavioral sciences, its methods, some of its theoretical approaches, learn about conditioning and cognitive processes, memory and thought, the nervous system, sensation and perception, motivation and emotion, and various states of consciousness. Discussions and demonstrations help to clarify lecture points. The second of two one-semester courses in psychology primarily consists of the study of human development, personality theories, mental illness and therapy.
