  • Discuss the student handbook and code of conduct with your children.
  • Get involved in a parent-teacher organization.
  • Inform yourself about school boundaries by visiting your childs school.
  • Talk with teachers about classroom boundaries, then talk with your child about respecting those boundaries.
  • Support school boundaries, consequences, and expectations for students behavior.
  • Contact school authorities when boundaries are not being enforced fairly, consistently, or appropriately.
  • When conflicts occur, dont be pushy.
  • Create an official policy on behaviors that are in-bounds, and establish consequences for behavior that is out-of-bounds.
  • Parents should have a copy of the student handbook.
  • Expect young people to behave responsibly.
  • Post your school boundaries throughout the school.
  • Use peer mediation as one way to resolve boundary violations.
  • Notice and celebrate times when students follow school policies and respect school boundaries.
  • Provide adequate supervision in the lunchroom, hallways, etc.
  • Support school leaders in developing, communicating, and enforcing school boundaries.
  • Make sure that school boundaries are consistent from school to school.
  • Talk publicly about school boundaries.
  • Be sure that coaches and other adult leaders are informed and support school boundaries.
  • Learn what the boundaries are in schools in your community.
  • Find out about school policies for student behavior and reinforce those expectations within the congregation.
