  • Utilizing geometric concepts within an algebraic setting in the coordinate plane

  • How do you write equations of various types of lines in the coordinate plane?
  • How do you apply principles of coordinate geometry in a variety of situations?
  • How do you graph equations and inequalities in the coordinate plane?
  • How do you write equations of circles and identify the characteristics of a circle given the equation?

Target Goals:

  • To be able to draw lines and circles to represent solutions to equations
  • To be able to write equations corresponding to vertical, horizontal, and non-vertical lines
  • To be able to solve a system of equations
  • To be able to graph an inequality and a system of inequalities
  • To be able to write equations corresponding to circles

Activities:

  • Use the graphing calculator for specific situations related to lines and systems of equations
  • Use real world models to find slope, midpoint, equations of lines, etc.
