Department – Student Supply List
FOR
STUDENTS IN ALGEBRA OR GEOMETRY |
| Scientific/Fraction
Calculator: |
These
are highly recommended. It has the fraction key and has
the basic trigonometric function keys. Examples include
from Texas Instruments the TI-30X IIS (which has the expanded
screen to display what was entered) and the TI-30XaSE; and
from Casio the FX-65, the FX-115, and the FX-260. The approximate
price range is $15 - $20.
A graphing calculator is not required nor encouraged (an
exception is stated in the next paragraph) until a student
is enrolled in a course that, sequentially, is after a geometry
course (Algebra 2 & Trigonometry, Advanced Algebra &
Trigonometry, etc.). By waiting, the chances of an expensive
calculator like one of these getting damaged, lost, or stolen
by the time it is needed, are eliminated. If one is going
to be purchased, the TI-83plus is recommended.
A graphing calculator is highly recommended (and may
be required) for Algebra 1 Honors. |
