This page and its links are written to provide you with information regarding the college and career selection process. Links will provide you with other world wide web addresses and can be accessed by clicking on the darkened words/phrases.
>The College/Career Center located in the P.P.S. Office also contains a wide variety of informational resources such as college pamphlets, videos, catalogs, and reference books that will guide one through the college selection and career decision making process. In addition, counselors are available to assist students and parents with questions and concerns. Students and parents are welcome and encouraged to visit the College/Career Center to take advantage of these and other resources.
College Information

- Twelve Reasons to Stay in Illinois - This publication provides current information about each state university.
- College Board Online - College Board's Home Page identifies itself as the "starting point for students, parents, counselors, admission staff, financial aid staff, high school and college faculty members College Board members." It offers college search capabilities, career matching services and profiles, testing information, and financial aid calculation. One of the best on the net.
- CollegeView - This site, also available in the P.P.S. office, allows you to search their database of over 3,500 two-and four-year schools. Their information is categorized under college search, Education Index, coffee shop, financial aid, careers, Appzap, bulletin board, and what's new.
- Peterson's Education Center - Peterson's offers information about undergraduate education, graduate schools, and summer programs.
- The Princeton Review - a national provider of test preparation programs. In addition to test information the Princeton Review home page offers general information about college admissions and financial aid and is an excellent source for additional educational websites.
- Kaplan Educational Center - offers commercial test preparation programs nationwide. Kaplan Online presents information about college entrance exams, college admissions in general, and related topics.
- American Universities - This site offers direct links to the Home Pages of approximately 1100 American Universities.
- Community Colleges - The site offers direct links to hundreds of Community College sites including Joliet Junior College and Moraine Valley.
Career Information
- CareerJet.com is an employment search engine for the USA. In one simple search, Careerjet gives the job seeker access to a massive selection of jobs that are compiled from various internet sources, saving the trouble of having to visit each site individually.
- Occupational Outlook Handbook - The Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Division of Occupational Outlook have put the Occupational Outlook Handbook on-line. The handbook offers descriptions for jobs, employment conditions, working environment, outlook for the profession, required training, earning statistics, and related occupations. There also is an area titled "Tomorrow's Jobs" that provides statistics on the future of the country's jobs and which areas are growing and receding.
- Career Search From CollegeBoard - Click on career questionaire to learn about jobs that match your likes and dislikes. This may help you better understand what kind of career would suit you best.
- Career Cruising – This is an interactive career resource designed for people of all ages. If you want to find the right career, explore different career options, or plan future education and training, you’ve come to the right place. The username is lincolnway and the password is central.
