[Read More...]LWMB Holding Hat and Mitten DrivePosted on: Tuesday, November 13, 2018As part of their BandCares participation for the 130th Tournament of Roses, the Lincoln-Way Marching Band has chosen to support the Irma C. Ruiz Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Cluster School in Chicago with a hat and mitten drive. Over 85% of the 670 students in this school are from low-income families. Their goal is to collect at least 670 sets of hats and mittens so every student receives warm winter gear.

[Read More...]Lincoln-Way East Students Study at Argonne National LaboratoryPosted on: Friday, November 16, 2018On Wednesday, November 14, 24 Lincoln-Way East students and three teachers attended an engineering experience at Argonne National Laboratory. The “Extreme X-rays” experience allowed students to create a Gauss cannon in order to achieve the highest final velocity. First students learned about how the Advanced Photon Source (APS) works at Argonne. Students learned about magnetic fields and how magnets can manipulate an object’s motion. Students Zoe Sterr, Sara Cooley, Kailey Lindaur, and Ela Eames achieved the groups’ highest velocity of 3.89 m/s.
