Friday, March 27, 2015

Lincoln-Way Central High School freshman Sara Swanberg was selected to serve on the Illinois High School Associations (IHSA) Student Advisory Committee. In this role, she will act as a liaison with students, administrators, IHSA staff and board members and is committed to the values of leadership, sportsmanship and integrity.

I was definitely honored to be nominated, said Swanberg, who plays on the Central girls basketball and badminton teams as well as the schools Knightmares Club which promotes school spirit. It will be a good learning experience to associate with other athletes from Illinois.

IHSA Student Advisory Committee members attend meetings in Bloomington and provide input on IHSA rules, regulations, and educational initiatives.

Swanberg will serve as the voice of Lincoln-Way Central athletes and help promote student participation in interscholastic competitions.

We couldnt be more proud of Sara for standing out as a leader in our school as a freshman, said Dr. Steve Provis, Lincoln-Way Central Principal. This committee is mostly comprised of juniors and seniors which makes Saras acceptance even more impressive.

Sarah is dedicated and hard-working and we know she will represent Lincoln-Way well at the state level, Provis said. We are thrilled to have her at Central for the next three years.

I think its important to have good sportsmanship in all sports, Swanberg said. When we play, we are playing for the same goal of having fun.
