Lincoln-Way Central Students Honored at Spring Assembly

Lincoln-Way Central High School students showed their school spirit during last weeks Spring Assembly honoring their state athletes, valedictorian and salutatorian, Special Games athletes, and retiring teachers. The assembly began with a moment of silence in honor and memory of fellow student Dylan Wischover.

The Spring Assembly showcased our positive school culture and our students commitment to excel in the classroom and in their extracurricular activities, said Lincoln-Way Central Principal Dr. Steven Provis.

The National Anthem was sang by Nina Iraci and the colors were presented by ROTC students.

Dr. Provis congratulated valedictorian Daniel Zolecki and salutatorian Madeline McLaughlin for their outstanding academic achievements. Zolecki earned a grade point average of 5.75, and has been involved in Mathletes, Marching Knights, Singing Knights, Pi Sigma Pi, Mu Alpha Theta, Anime Club, Latin Honor Society, Junior Classical League, Chess Team and the National Honor Society. McLaughlin has a grade point average of 5.65, is an Illinois State Scholar, a PSAE All-Star, and received honorable mention in the national Mathematical Contest in Modeling.

Students also cheered for the accomplishments of their schools athletes who placed at state, including Bryan Ditchman for placing third in wrestling, Cody Moris for eighth in the 100 yard backstroke, and Brandon View for seventh in the 100 yard freestyle and eighth in the 50 yard freestyle. Students who participated in the districts Special Games event on March 12th were also recognized
