Thursday, April 9, 2015

The Lincoln-Way East Music Department will present its Jazz Showcase on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 in the auditorium of Easts Fine Arts Center.

The annual event features the schools combos and big bands under the direction of Ben Clark and vocal jazz groups directed by Melissa Curtis.

Were proud to welcome internationally-acclaimed conductor and trumpet player Chad Shoopman as our guest artist this year, said Bert Johnson, music department chair at Lincoln-Way East. The Jazz Showcase is a wonderful event that demonstrates the tremendous talent of our students for the entire community to enjoy.

Shoopman works with over 100 middle school, high school, and college bands worldwide. He is currently the music director for the national champion Brass Band of Central Florida and performs regularly with Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Arturo Sandovals L.A. All-Star Band and The Woody Herman Orchestra.

Shoopman has also worked with Wynton Marsalis, Chick Corea, Bernadette Peters, Natalie Cole and many others.

The $28 ticket includes an evening of jazz entertainment and a buffet dinner with vegetarian and gluten-free options, beverages and dessert.

Raffle prizes were donated by local businesses and individuals as well as souvenir cups for sale. All proceeds support the Lincoln-Way East Music Department.

Tickets must be purchased by May 4th and will not be available for purchase at the door. Tickets can be ordered by downloading the form located on the Lincoln-Way East Music Department website at www.lwemusic.org.
