Lincoln-Way North Celebrates Student Success at Spring Assembly

Lincoln-Way North hosted a Spring Assembly last week to honor students academic and extra-curricular accomplishments. The assembly opened with the presentation of colors by ROTC students and the National Anthem sang by the Lincoln-Way North Chorale.

North celebrated several successes in athletics, including the Varsity Girls Gymnastics team winning the Regional Championship, the Varsity Boys Bowling team placing sixth and the Varsity Cheerleading team placing fourth at the IHSA (Illinois High School Association) State Finals.

All-State athlete Kyle Krupske was honored for placing sixth in the IHSA State Final for Boys Bowling; Veronica Villasenor was honored as a regional champion in Girls Bowling and Melissa Martineck was honored for all regional in Girls Bowling.

More than 20 Special Games athletes were recognized along with their peer partners.

Norths Principal, Dr. Mark Cohen congratulated the schools Illinois State Scholars, National Merit Finalist and Commended students, PSAE All-Stars and the top ten students in each class.

The Top Ten for the Class of 2015 included David J. Arnold, Alison N. DeBruyn, Ryan S. Arnold, Patrick M. McGuire, Devin L. Werner, Nora P. Ward, Joyce E. Kim, Payton A. Lang, Justine D. Ivanov, and Anthony J. Brattoli.

The Top Ten for the Class of 2016 included Kayli E. Benak, Justin Corp, Mayrna Dababneh, Sinead Flynn, Allison P. Gerk, Hannah Goss, Alexander Greer, Rebecca S. Lam, Carly A. Marchal, Clare Maylone and Ashley N. Pop.

The Top Ten for the Class of 2017 included Nicholas N. Brattoli, Michael V. Gaertig, Bianca M. Galassini, Mary E. Gorski, Jessica M. Helwig, Katarzyna A. Jelonek, Kelsey F. McInturff, Ryan Murphy, Thomas Scott, and Joanna M. Zobak.

The Top Ten for the Class of 2018 included Grace M. Babcock, Ranya M. Darwish, John J. Dillon, Taylor A. Doyle, Sara E. Glawe, Sydney M. Koehne, Hannah S. Laverty, Elisabeth A. Nacik, Carlie A. Parrish, Holly C. Ramos, and Tara Tischer.

Lincoln-Way North recently hosted its Sixth Annual Scholarship Night fundraiser to raise money for Senior Scholarships. At the event, ten students, voted in by the junior and senior class, competed for the titles of Mr. and Miss Phoenix. After modeling formal and casual wear, a talent contest and a final question, the school named Kylie Snyder as Miss Phoenix and Robbie Harrington as Mr. Phoenix.

Also recognized were student musicians who were selected from thousands across the state to participate in the All-State Festival including John Kotze and Anthony Brattoli for band, Kayli Benak, Arturo Gutierrez, Daniel Rehm, Casey Sawilchik, Delaney Schmidt and Nicole Wiltjer for choir.

Students who placed at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership conference were recognized, including Kelsey Browning for fourth place in marketing; Kassidy Champlin for fifth place in sports and entertainment management; Sinead Flynn for fourth place in marketing; Daniel Gilchrist for tenth place in management decisions making; Hannah Goss for fifth place in sports and entertainment management; Kenny Hill for sixth place in banking and financial; Robert Kall for tenth place in management decisions making; Patrick McGuire for sixth place in banking and financial; Will Newman for sixth place in banking and financial; Gregory Ryba for eleventh place in business presentation; and Hunter Sweeney for tenth place in management and decisions making.

Students also congratulated students Alison DeBruyn for qualifying to compete in Skills USA in Commercial Baking and Gregory Ryba in Auto Service Technology as well as the four students who qualified for the State Mathletes competition, including Allison Hefner, Robert Harrington, Patrick McGuire, and Ryan Murphy.
