Lincoln-Way Central and West Mathletes Win Regionals!

The Lincoln-Way Central and West Mathletes both won the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) regional championships this past weekend!

At the ICTM regional competition, each school competes in ten different events. The events range from individual grade-level competitions to mixed grade-level group competitions. There is also a demonstration competition in which students are required to study extra material and orally present their solutions to a panel of judges.

The Lincoln-Way Central Mathletes competed in the 3AA competition and captured five first place spots and five second place spots out of the 10 areas of competition.

The West Mathletes scored 536 points in the 4AA competition, winning the regional by 50 points. Lincoln-Way East Mathletes came in second place scoring 486 points. Of the ten competitions, the West Mathletes finished first or second in eight of them including first place finishes in Sophomore Geometry, Senior Pre-Calculus, Freshman/Sophomore 8-Person Group, Junior/Senior 8-Person Group, Junior/Senior 2-Person Group, and the Calculator Group competition.

The Knights and Warriors will advance to the ICTM State Math Contest on May 2 at the University of Illinois.
