Lincoln-Way AFJROTC Receives Outstanding Organization Award
Monday, June 22, 2015

The Lincoln-Way East and North High Schools AFJROTC (Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) was selected as one of only two units in Illinois for the Outstanding Organization Award from the Department of the Air Force Air University.

These awards recognize the personal growth and accomplishments of the cadets, contributions of the instructors as mentors, and the support of the school and local community, said Bobby C. Woods, Jr., Colonel, USAF. Certainly numerous AFJROTC units are doing great things in their respective communities, but these units truly represent the best of our 889 AFJROTC and NDCC units worldwide.

We hold our cadets to the highest standards and our students are really committed to giving back to the community, said MSgt Dale Steen. Im proud of our students for representing Lincoln-Way well and for all theyve done to earn this prestigious award.

Steen was also one of five instructors from Illinois to receive the Outstanding Instructor Award.

To receive the Outstanding Organization Award, students were required to accomplish at least eight hours of supervised community service per cadet and meet all of the headquarters deadlines on time.
