Lincoln-Way West Cheerleading Team Honored at Village Board Meeting

The Lincoln-Way West Warriors Competitive Cheerleading Team was honored by New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann and the village trustees during the New Lenox Village Board meeting this week.

The Board issued a proclamation of high praise for the teams most successful season in Lincoln-Way West history, placing third at the IHSA state final.

The proclamation recognized students first place wins at the Buffalo Grove and Knights Invites, SWSC Red Conference and IHSA sectional titles and strong finish at state.

The teams genuine sportsmanship for others competing at state series did not go unnoticed and they were recognized by IHSA with the Sport a Winning Attitude Sportsmanship Award, Baldermaann said.

Members of the West Warriors Competitive Cheerleading Team include Haley Anderson, Emily Beland, Brianna Clark, Lauren Curry, Regina Durling, Alexis Fantin, Megan Lynch, Dani Magda, Sarah Magda, Ali Medellin, Kara OLeary, Ariel Redmond, Mallory Root, Allison Rymek, Amanda Thompson, Jessica Wallace, Sydney Whalen and Megan Yelnick.

The head coach is Sarah Sabo and Assistant Coaches are Jessi Brooks and Ashley Goldberg.
