Lincoln-Way East Finishes Homecoming with Football Win
Tuesday, October 6, 2015

Lincoln-Way East High School finished their week of Homecoming festivities with a football win during Fridays 48-6 victory over Lockport.

The win followed a spirited pep assembly on the schools football stadium field with performances by the Griffin cheerleaders, competitive dance team, and a choreographed dance with East cheerleaders and football players.

The pep assembly also featured a Homecoming Olympics championship competition between the schools winning Olympics team from each class.

Homecoming Week is the perfect way to help finish out the first quarter of school because it is packed full with celebrations that are all centered on school spirit, said Jayson Polad, Easts Asset and Activities Coordinator.

Easts Homecoming Olympics attracted more than 60 teams and students enjoyed a series of spirited relay races. Students spelled out Homecoming with their bodies, pushed ping pong balls down the field with their nose, collected M&Ms through a straw all while racing against their classmates.

The winning Homecoming Olympics team included freshman students Jenna Couwenhoven, Kirsten Lutz, Gabby Slaverio, Jordan Jacobucci, Claire Hawkinson, Madisnon Parnello, Isabel Passarelli, Mackenzie Udani and Kait Ortiz.

I applaud our Student Council members for their outstanding job in organizing our Homecoming events and creating a culture of fun that really energized our entire school, said Laura Rycyna, co-chair of Easts Student Council.

During the popular Homecoming dance, Lincoln-Way East students Brent Bonner and Maggie Fialkowski were named Homecoming king and queen.
