Lincoln-Way East junior Joe Hertz has been selected to participate in a master class at Pepperdine University.

Hertz will be traveling to Pepperdine University in Malibu, California to participate in a master class with classical guitar virtuoso Christopher Parkening on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

Joe has been working to prepare for this opportunity for months. He is a valuable asset to our music program in many facets, stated Michael Teare, instrumental music instructor for East.

Joe is a talented, versatile musician. He plays trumpet in the East wind ensemble and Griffin marching band as well as guitar in the jazz band. He also performs his role as concert master in the Guitar Studio class at East.

I am very proud of this student. He embodies what it means to be a Griffin. I know that in my class he consistently demonstrates the Effort, Attitude, Spirit and Teamwork that defines what we try to teach all of our students each and every day, noted Teare.
