Lincoln-Way Central Staff & Students Shine at ILMEA ConferenceFriday, February 5, 2016
Lincoln-Way Central was well represented by both music students and music faculty at the 2016 Illinois Music Education Conference, held in Peoria last weekend.
Seniors Kaitlyn Forsythe (flute), Matthew Fleckenstein (percussion), and junior Peyton Nielsen (viola) were all selected to perform in the 2016 All-State Orchestra under the direction of conductor Emanuele Andrizzi.
Senior Thomas Erhardt (tenor voice) was selected to perform in the 24-member All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Martez Rucker.
Senior Micaela Beck (soprano voice) was selected to perform in the Honors Chorus under the direction of Dr. Andre Thomas.
Lincoln-Way Central music faculty gave four clinics at the 2016 IMEC: Michael Bultman presented "2016 Vocal Jazz Music Selections Workshop" and performed with his ensemble, "Central Vocal Time"; and Stacy Williams-Jackson presented "Grow Your Own: Developing Jazz Bassists (for the non-Bassist)" as well as "Rock Orchestra Reading Session", with Mike Bultman and Nate Jackson assisting on keyboards and guitar.
Stacy Williams-Jackson was also the bassist for the Honors and All-State Vocal Jazz Ensembles, and was named President of ILMEA District I through 2018.
"I am so grateful to the Illinois Music Education Association for making available not only these incredibly meaningful opportunities for the state's finest musicians to perform, but also for facilitating means of collaborating and sharing best practices with our fellow educators," says Jackson.
