Congratulations to Cadet Matthew Deavers (LW-West) and Cadet Ryan Holl (LW-Central) on being awarded the Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR) Youth Citizenship Medal by the Louis Joliet Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.
The DAR Youth Citizenship Award is presented to deserving students who fulfill the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism.
Cadet Deavers, a freshman at Lincoln-Way West, contributed over 40 hours of community service since the beginning of the school year, the most of any freshman. In addition he has participated in over 12 Color Guard ceremonies.
Cadet Ryan Holl, a sophomore at Lincoln-Way Central, is driven to accept positions of leadership and is extremely active in both JROTC and school activities. He exhibits high moral character and shows great courage by standing up for issues he believes in and addressing them in a respectful manner.
According to their JROTC Instructor, MSgt Schliffka, “These two young cadets exemplifies the Air Force core values of Integrity First, Service-Before-Self, and Excellence in everything they do. I appreciate how well they represent the Air Force Junior ROTC program at Lincoln-Way.”
