RULING BY CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE ROGER RICKMON DISMISSING LAWSUIT CHALLENGING SCHOOL CLOSURE
Friday, March 4, 2016
Today, Will County Circuit Court Judge Roger Rickmon ruled in favor of Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210's motion by dismissing the lawsuit filed by Lincoln Way Taxpayers Unite (LWATU) challenging the Board of Education's August 2015 decision to close Lincoln-Way North High School at the end of the current school year.
The plaintiffs were given the opportunity to amend and restate part of their complaint; a status hearing has been scheduled for April 21. We remain fully confident that the Court will affirm that the Board's actions in this matter, while difficult and painful, were appropriate.
The District looks forward to resolving this litigation and returning full focus to addressing the issues and challenges it faces, while fulfilling its mission to provide opportunities to maximize the academic growth of all Lincoln-Way students in the most cost effective manner.
