Lincoln-Way Central High School hosts "Back to School Night"

On Wednesday, August 24, Lincoln-Way Central hosted “Back to School Night” for parents and guardians of Knights. A red, 2016 Ford Mustang was parked at the main entryway to the school; the car is the winning prize to the Lincoln-Way Foundation’s Dream Raffle.

Principal Steve Provis welcomed families to the Fine Arts Center at the start of the night by introducing Lincoln-Way Central staff and referencing their goals. “Our mission at Lincoln-Way is to maximize the academic and social growth of our students--in essence, to prepare them for the future,” he said.

Dr. Provis then discussed the opportunities that students will be given to prepare for ACT/SAT testing this year. Beginning on Wednesday, August 31, students are invited to attend ACT/SAT review classes that will focus on all aspects of the exams. Sessions will meet every Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. in the Little Theater, and will also meet at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays in room E200 for students enrolled in zero hour.

After Principal Provis’ introduction, parents and guardians toured the school by walking their student’s class schedule. Link Crew leaders helped attendees find classrooms, where they were able to meet teachers who gave a brief summary of course content and expectations. Parents and guardians were encouraged to ask questions to teachers and administrators throughout the night, and were able to purchase Knight spirit wear.

“We always love seeing parents and guardians come out to learn about their student’s courses and opportunities,” said Dr. Provis. “We are incredibly excited for what this new year will bring and have no doubt that these students will be successful with the support we’ve seen tonight.”
