Lincoln-Way Marching Band Hosts First Community Night Tuesday, September 13, 2016
On Saturday, September 10, Lincoln-Way Marching Band (LWMB) hosted their first annual LWMB Community Night.
The event kicked off at 6:00 p.m. at the Lincoln-Way Central football field and hosted approximately 2000 attendees including students, parents, and community members. The night featured performances by the band, a silent auction, raffle, and concessions.
“The evening could not have gone better. The band gave a really wonderful performance and was enthusiastically received by the audience,” says LWMB Director, Cary Ruklic. “This event was the perfect way to kick-off our fall performance schedule, as well as create excitement around new sponsorship opportunities!”
All in attendance received a $20.00 credit toward an Uber ride, and a $99.00 VIP Membership to Travel Set Go. Approximately 40 items were donated for the silent auction and raffle which raised approximately $5,000. Giordano’s, Culver’s of Frankfort, and WickedBall Chicago sponsored the event, offering concessions and donating a portion of the proceeds to the LWMB. All money raised will fund band supplies, equipment, meals, travel, and repairs for equipment and instruments.
“I’m overwhelmed by the support of the community at our inaugural event,” says sponsorship director, Kim Hansen. “We had a great turn-out and we hope next year will be just as successful! I can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to our supportive community.”
