Tuesday, March 10, 2015

The Lincoln-Way West Music Boosters are ready to host a large crowd for the fifth annual West-Fest, an all-day craft fair that will also include local food vendors, musical entertainment, raffle prizes and fun for the entire family.

West-Fest will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lincoln-Way West High School, 21701 S. Gougar Road in New Lenox.

The admission charge is $3.00 per person for ages 13 and up; $1 for ages 5-12; and ages 4 and under are free. West Fest 2014 was attended by over 1,500 people.

Each paid admission includes a raffle ticket for large prizes, and this year the Boosters will also be selling tickets for their car raffle, featuring a car specially selected for Lincoln-Way West. In addition, many vendors donate prizes that can be won by playing the Music Boosters popular Spin & Win! game.

All proceeds will be used to benefit the Lincoln-Way West Music program. The Music Boosters support a variety of programs including marching band, jazz band, choir, wind symphony, and the spring musical.

The craft fair is sold out with more than 100 vendors offering items ranging from hand-crafted jewelry, kitchen items, artwork, woodworking crafts, doll clothes and so much more! Local restaurants will offer a variety of food and drink in the cafeteria. Entertainment will take place throughout the day in the cafeteria, featuring musical and theater groups from local schools and the community, stated Sarah Bechtel, Communications Director for the LWW Music Boosters.

The Lincoln-Way West Music Boosters work hard each year to ensure a great experience for the crafters and attendees alike. Exhibitors will be located in the school gym and the main hallway of the school, added Bechtel.

West Fest is a great way to bring the community into Lincoln-Way West and feature many wonderful area crafters and artisans. With the event being sponsored by the West Music Boosters, we will of course feature many student music ensembles for the communitys entertainment throughout the day. I want to thank the band booster parents for all their hard work, noted Cary Ruklic, West Music Department Chair.

We hope to build upon the success of West Fest in future years to continue to provide the West music programs with financial support. The funds raised will benefit the students and help to provide a more enriching experience for them, stated Bechtel.
