Lincoln-Way to offer Adult Welding Class

Lincoln-Way High School District 210 will offer an adult welding class beginning in January. The classes will be held at Lincoln-Way East, located at 201 Colorado Avenue in Frankfort. The course will reach capacity when the three remaining spaces are filled.

The course will teach participants many welding techniques, from creating designs to performing repairs. The class is an excellent starting point for those interested in a career in welding, and is open to anyone who is interested in exploring the basics of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG), Plasma Arc Cutting, Oxy-Fuel Torch Cutting, Oxy-Fuel Gas Welding, Brazing and Soldering. Tools, materials, and protective gear will be provided.

Participants must wear leather shoes, long sleeves, long pants, and bring their own safety glasses each week. No prior welding experience is necessary.

The course is taught by Lincoln-Way’s Daymon Gast. Gast has 20 years of welding experience. He is endorsed by the American Welding Society and is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Educator (CWE), and is a Certified Welder (CW).

The winter class will be held on the following Thursdays: January 12, January 19, January 26, February 2, and February 9. Each class will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. The cost for the course is $150.00 and includes a $25.00 non-refundable deposit to secure enrollment. Each participant must be at least 18 years old and must be a high school graduate.
