Lincoln-Way West students named Illinois State Scholars
Thursday, January 12, 2017

On Thursday, January 12, 2017 in the Warriors Lodge at Lincoln-Way West, 73 students gathered to celebrate their Illinois State Scholar status. The requirements for consideration to become an Illinois State Scholar are ACT and/or SAT test scores, unweighted GPA, and class size. According to the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, “In any academic year, approximately 10% of all Illinois high school graduates are named State Scholars.”

Students were welcomed by Principal Monica Schmitt and enjoyed a breakfast among their peers. “We are extremely proud of our Illinois State Scholars,” said Dr. Schmitt. “Not only are they leaders in the classroom, but they are leaders within the entire school, showing younger Warriors the true importance of earning a solid education.”
