Monday, March 23, 2015

Lincoln-Way West students earned a hard-fought victory during the schools charity basketball game on March 20. Students won 53-50 against Lincoln-Way West faculty members and raised a record $2,945 for student scholarships.

Student Simon Egner and teacher Paul Rodriguez scored several three-pointers, keeping the game exciting, said David Gallagher, social science department chair at West and chairman of the event. All of our students and staff really came together for a fun and competitive game that entertained the crowd and raised money for a good cause.

This charity basketball game is a long tradition at Lincoln-Way with the proceeds going towards scholarships for seniors who want to pursue a career in teaching, Gallagher said. Its our way to help support students who will be going into education.
