Lincoln-Way Central Athletic Director Reviews 2016-2017 School YearThursday, August 3, 2017
After a year of victories and titles, Matthew Lyke, Director of Athletics at Lincoln-Way Central recalls the greatest triumphs of the 2016-2017 school year while recognizing his student-athletes for their commitment to building upon their rich tradition.
Lyke emphasized 4 exceptional athletic achievements from the latest school year accentuating how proud the Lincoln-Way Central Athletic Department is of their athletes, along with how much he looks forward to many more accomplishments in the future.
Altogether, Lincoln-Way Central captured 15 Conference titles. For the first time in school history, the Boys’ and Girls’ Swimming and Diving Teams were conference champions.
The Girls’ Water Polo Team had an outstanding season with an Elite 8 appearance at the IHSA State Final.
Grace Curran was the IHSA Individual State Champion in Girls’ Golf and was the first Lincoln-Way Central golfer, girls or boys, to win an individual state title.
“All 28 of our Varsity Level Programs earned All-Academic Team recognition from the IHSA. To qualify, each team must have a combined grade point average of 3.00 or above,” Lyke noted as his final top victory for LWC this school year.
