The 13th annual Lincoln-Way Fine Arts Festival
called ArtWorks is being held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 10:00
am to 3:00 pm at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort.
This year, as before, ArtWorks includes the talents of students
and faculty from the Lincoln-Way high schools, area junior
highs, middle schools and elementary schools along with
community artists.
“ It is our hope that the entire Lincoln-Way community can spend
a few minutes observing our great students in action. When the
auditorium at East was constructed, the Lincoln-Way Board of
Education told our citizens that we wanted the new facility to be one of
the finest cultural arts center’s in the Chicagoland area.
To date, many wonderful theatrical productions have been performed
at East and at Central by our students and theatrical professionals.
We have expanded the use of these two facilities to include all
areas of the fine arts; music, art, dance, literature, dramatics
and story telling. We are excited about all the increased opportunities
for our students and the community when we have two additional
fine arts facilities, one with Lincoln-Way North and one with Lincoln-Way
West,” stated Dr. Lawrence A. Wyllie, superintendent.
“ArtWorks will feature the art classrooms with demonstrations and various
hands-on activities including the pottery wheel, jewelry making and copper
enameling, photography, watercolor painting, television production, computer
graphics and
computer animation for all age levels as well as exhibits,” noted Colette
Rinn, ArtWorks chair and district art department chairperson.
Artwork from all age groups will be on display in the cafeteria.
A wide variety of musical performances will also be presented
including, bands, choirs, and
