The
Lincoln-Way District 210 Board of Education and administration
held the second annual early graduation ceremony to
again recognize students who have completed all their
graduation requirements and chose to graduate early
from high school. The ceremony was held at Lincoln-Way
East on January 26, 2008 to for both Lincoln-Way East
and Lincoln-Way Central students and their parents.
“Lincoln-Way
is all about student achievement. We honor our students’academic achievements
in a variety of ways, but the single most important day in a student’s
life is their graduation day. Throughout the years some of our students
have chosen to leave early, by that we mean to graduate at the end of the seventh
semester upon completing all requirements for graduation from Lincoln-Way,”stated
Dr. Lawrence A. Wyllie, superintendent.
The
graduation ceremony was steeped in tradition with students from Lincoln-Way East’s
Wind Ensemble playing the processional “Land of Hope and Glory”and
singing the National Anthem.
Jim
Gast, school board member gave his speech honoring the graduates for their hard
work and school spirit, and Dr. Lawrence A. Wyllie, superintendent, presented
the graduates for their diplomas before the audience of parents, families, faculty,
staff, administration and members of the board of education.
After
the names of the 29 graduates were read by the two high school principals, Dr.
Michael Gardner, Lincoln-Way East, and Dr. Monica Schmitt, Lincoln-Way Central,
and all diplomas were received, all graduation hats went air born, the in traditional
tossing of the caps.
Parents,
families, guest, Lincoln-Way personnel and graduates attended a reception given
by the school district in the lobby of the auditorium after the ceremony.
Dr.
Wyllie spoke to the parents saying,”On behalf of the Lincoln-Way Board
of Education, administration, faculty and staff we all wish to congratulate these
fine young people and wish them the very best. They have now completed a rigorous
curriculum and can be very proud of their accomplishments. Thanks also goes to
the parents for all their help and guidance on this long road of education.”
