Lincoln-Way East High School Jazz Ensemble I took top honors at Purdue University's 2008 Jazz Festival, held in Loeb Ballroom on January 19. The Jazz Ensemble was named the Honor Band in the large school big band category. 

Bands from Illinois and Indiana competed in the Purdue University festival. Students, along with the opportunity for competition, also were able to participate in clinics taught by professional jazz musicians.

" The clinics gave our students the opportunity to strengthen their musical skills," noted Rob Calhoon, director of the East Jazz band and department chair.
