The Lincoln-Way High School
District 210 Board of Education got a look last night at
their May 8 board meeting of the proposed mascots and colors
choices for Lincoln-Way West. A display of the colors and
mascot choices was set up in Round Table Hall at Lincoln-Way
Central for the board’s review.
“The students that will be attending West in the fall of 2009 will be voting
on the colors and mascots and narrowing the choices to 3 of each at the end of
August 2008. Then in the first week of September, the students will again vote
to select their final choice,” stated Dr. Monica Schmitt, principal of
Lincoln-Way Central, and soon to be principal of Lincoln-Way West.

Dr. Schmitt
gave the board an update from the District 210 Advisory
Committee, who was charged with research and putting together
a list of colors and mascots the students could select
from. The committee used the work of the 1999-2000 and
2006-07 District 210 Advisory Committees to guide the group
through this recommendation process.
Proposed color
combinations for Lincoln-Way West are: Black, Carolina
Blue, White; Black Carolina Blue, Vegas Gold; Black, Green,
Vegas Gold; Black Green, Silver; Black, Garnet, Vegas Gold;
Black, Orange, White, Black Navy, Yellow; Black, Purple,
White; and Black, Purple, Silver.
Mascot choices are: Bruins, Centaurs, Dragons, Foxes, Lions, Monarchs, Panthers,
Ravens, Warriors, Wolverines, and Wolves.
