The primary task of the
2007-2008 District 210 Advisory Committee has been to review and
make recommendations for colors and a mascot for Lincoln-Way West
High School. This committee used the work of the 1999-2000 and 2006-2007
District 210 Advisory Committees to guide the group through this
recommendation process.
Criteria used for establishing school color combinations included:
- The colors must meet Board of Education guidelines. The color
black must be a part of the color scheme and is the common color
among all Lincoln-Way high schools
- The colors will be visually appealing, no matter what medium
they are used on.
- The colors must be quickly and easily accessible.
- The colors must be consistent (i.e., easily matched when ordering
new pieces of equipment or clothing).
- The colors must be able to hold up to repeat cleaning.
Criteria used for establishing school mascot choices included:
- The mascot should be appropriate for an educational environment.
- The mascot should be as politically correct as possible.
- The mascot should be respectful of diversity
- The mascot should not exhibit gender bias.
Using the above criteria, and after many discussions and visits
with Salkeld Sports, we present the following recommendations for
