Board
of Education Procedures
Your interest in the
Lincoln-Way High School Community High School District and your presence
at meetings are appreciated. Your interest is a vital part of our school
system's success.
Regular meetings of
the Board of Education are open to the public and are held the 2nd and
4th Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The location of the
meetings alternates between the Board Room at the Central High School
and the Library at the East High School. The exception is that meetings
held during the months of June and July are held the fourth Thursday
of month and the meetings held during the months of November and December
are held on the second Thursday of the month. A
schedule of Lincoln-Way Board of Education meetings is contained on this
web site.
All regular and special
board meetings are open to the public and all actions authorized or required
by law are taken at these meetings. The board may, however, meet in closed
(executive) session to discuss matters dealing with personnel, real estate
acquisition, litigation, and employee negotiations. All formal actions,
however, are taken in public sessions.
The agenda
for each meeting is prepared by the superintendent. Meetings are
conducted by the board president in the prescribed order.
Extensive background
material on agenda items are sent to the board members prior to each
meeting. After examining this material, board members can obtain answers
to questions and be prepared to efficiently and expeditiously reach decisions
concerning the many items which come before them during the meeting.
