Stage 1: Desired Results

Understandings

Students will continue to strengthen speaking skills.  From freshman year - incorporate specific elements of speaking: how to create and use notecards to assist a speech, how to dress appropriately, and how to use a visual aid when presenting.
Students will improve use of correct diction, expression, hand gestures, and clarity when speaking.
Students will listen courteously and respectfully.

Speech rubric which improves students' listening skills.
More student involvement in the assessing of other speeches.
Oral reading of passages that results in students' booknoting
