The Guidance Information Center located in the P.P.S. Office also contains a wide variety of informational resources such as college pamphlets, videos, catalogs, and reference books that will guide one through the college selection and career decision making process. In addition, counselors are available to assist students and parents with questions and concerns. Students and parents are welcome and encouraged to visit the Guidance Information Center to take advantage of these and other resources.

Career Cruising – This is an interactive career resource designed for people of all ages. If you want to find the right career, explore different career options, or plan future education and training, you’ve come to the right place. The username is lincolnway and the password is east.
Occupational Outlook Handbook - The Bureau of Labor Statistics has put the Occupational outlook Handbook online.  The handbook offers descriptions for jobs, employment conditions, working environment, outlook for the profession, required training, earning statistics, and related occupations.  There also is an area titled, “Tomorrow’s Jobs,” that provides statistics on the future of the country’s jobs and which areas are growing and receding.
College Board/Career Search - Click on Majors and Careers Central to read career profiles and find the majors related to them.  This portion of the College Board website includes information about college majors, planning for jobs and internships, and articles about careers.
Career Zone - This site developed by the state of New York focuses on career exploration and planning by using six career cluster areas.  Create your own portfolio for free and assess your career interests.
Career Voyages - Using the theme of “cruising for careers,” this website from the Department of Labor focuses on career assessments, growing industries, qualifying and applying for jobs, and paying for education and/or job training.  Includes links for apprenticeships, community colleges and four-year colleges.
Jobstar - Provides a multitude of job-related information from career assessments to writing and sending resumes to salary lists.
Illinois Career Resource Network - The Illinois Department of Employment Security divides this site into three major categories: Workforce Information Center, Career Resources, and Labor Market Information.
Military Careers - This revamped website offers information to parents and students about the benefits of a military career and whether this might be the right choice for you.
Trade Schools - This provides a very comprehensive list of vocational schools in all 50 states as well as Australia, Canada, Europe, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.  All the schools listed in the database are State Approved/Accredited. 
Resumes - Are you ready to create a resume?  Here you can use templates and get expert advice and step-by-step help on writing a resume. 
Monster.com - Perhaps the most comprehensive job search site online, Monster helps you find jobs, post resumes, network with employers, and get career advice. 
America’s Job Bank - This is a resource for making informed career decisions to support a demand-driven workforce investment system.
Career Vision – An organization located in Glen Ellyn, IL that provides career services to students and adults, teaching them how to make the best career decisions based on their natural abilities. The website has resources for students and information for parents as well as free career quizzes.
