Emergency School Closing Information

In case it should be necessary to close or delay the start of school, notification will appear on the District 210 home page. The announcement will also be given to the following radio stations:

  • WJOL AM 1340 in Joliet,
  • WJOL FM 96.7 in Joliet,
  • WGN AM 720 in Chicago, and
  • WLS AM 890 in Chicago.
Students and parents may also call the student attendance number at (815) 485-7777 for Central or (815) 464-3150 for East to find out if school is closed or has a weather emergency day schedule. The phone line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Bus drivers and students are instructed to start ten minutes earlier during severe weather and road conditions. If the bus fails to arrive within a reasonable time, the students should get under cover and wait for a second bus. The extra bus is always sent from the school and leaves promptly upon notification.

In case of an impending storm during the day, students may be sent home early.
