(Semester 1) Students will recognize and relate literary terms and concepts to particular eras in American literature from the 1600's to the 1800's. (Semester 2) Students will recognize and relate literary terms and concepts to particular eras in American literature from the 1800's to modern times. |

recognition and application of philosophical and cultural concepts pertinent to eras / continued application of devices and terms from previous years, plus poetic devices of slant rhyme, free verse, blank verse / plus atmosphere, tone, organizaton of ideas/structure, diction, syntax, parody. Styles such as stream of consciousness, realism, naturalism, impressionism, and regionalism also taught. |
