Lincoln-Way Central Science Honors Students of the Month for November and December

The Lincoln-Way Central Science Department has honored 10 more students for the first semester of the 2009-2010 school year; five for November and five for December.

The students were nominated by their teachers for various types of achievements: class participation, excellence in homework, as two examples, noted Sarah Highfill, science department chair.

For the month of November, 32 students were nominated by four science teachers. November winners are: Peter Smith, nominated by John Sunta in Physics; Rachel Murphy, nominated by Scott Headley in Physics; Andrea Murphy was also nominated by Scott Headley in Physics; and Gabriella Stacy was nominated by Rhonda Starklauf in Biology.

“The purpose of the award is to recognize student effort in science,” stated Steve Provis, principal for Lincoln-Way Central.

Science Students of the Month for December were chosen from 67 students, nominated by 9 teachers. Students selected are: Vincent Dinello, nominated by Ruby Bruozas in Chemistry; Alexandra Bednarz nominated by Heather Mackowiak in Forensics; Nathanial Ward nominated by Jennifer Malito in Elements of Science; Nick Eckmayer nominated by Catherine Sieber in Chemistry; and Jamie Graf, nominated by Dr. David Baran in Honors Physics.

“We will continue this program for the second semester by nominating 5 students per month,” added Highfill.
