Lincoln-Way West students will return to school for their second semester of classes for their opening year. In preparation for their first year of state testing, the West administration and faculty have scheduled a West Prep Day for all junior, sophomore and freshman students on Tuesday, January 12, 2010.
“We want to prepare our students for their state tests. Getting kids more familiar with this type of testing will open doors and gives them opportunities for their future. By taking this test day each student can then analyze where they need to work before state tests in April,” stated Tom Bartkus, associate principal for West.
Juniors will be taking the Act/PSAE samples, sophomores will be taking PLAN test samples, and the freshmen will be taking the PLAN test samples also, stated Bartkus.
All the information is on line on the West website for our students, so they can practice at home, during study halls. The tests are aligned with the state standards.
West administrators have held five different parent meetings to inform parents about the January 12 test day, with over 90 parents attending.
“We will use the standardized format that colleges and universities use to accept students,” added Bartkus.
