Lincoln-Way West students held a unique event to raise money for charity during the last week of their first semester of classes.
The Ugly Holiday Sweater Sock Hop was held on Friday, December 18, after the girls and boys varsity basketball games in the West field house.
A donation of $3 or an unopened toy was collected at the door when students entered the sock hop.
The week before students could submit a picture of an ugly holiday sweater to vie for the crown of king or queen Ugly Sweater. Leo St. Amour was elected King and Monica Hahn was elected Queen.
“The students raised over $100 and donated a variety of new unopened toys for Guardian Angel Charities in Joliet,” stated Nicole Shervino, Coordinator of Student Activities for Lincoln-Way West.
“The West students enjoyed the sock hop, snow cones, dancing to the music of a DJ, and raising money for charity during the holidays,” added Shervino.
