L-W West hosts Elective Fair for 2013-2014 school year Monday, January 14, 2013
Lincoln-Way West held its Elective Fair for all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors recently to give out information for next year's class schedules.
"This is an important time of year for our current students to learn about the elective choices they have for their class schedule for the 2013-2014 school year," stated Dr. Monica Schmitt, principal.
Students had the opportunity to use their advisory period to view displays and talk to teachers about the many elective class choices they will have for next year. The elective fair was held Friday, January 11 in the Warriors Lodge at the West campus.
The following elective areas participated: art, music, world languages, mechanics, animal science, horticulture, construction and building trades, automotive, computer drafting, computer/technology, business/marketing, foods, clothing/design, and early childhood education/human resources.
Patrick Dunne had taken a wood shop class during his sophomore year as an elective and was back at the Elective Fair looking to learn about his class options for his junior year.
"I really like my woods class. This next year I am looking at a language class or other ideas," stated Patrick.
"Electives are offered both as a full year class and also semester classes," noted Holly Pierson, PPS department chair.
The PPS department hosts the Elective Fair each year as the beginning of the student registration process which includes the Open House for the Class of 2017 being held on Wednesday, February 6.
