Lincoln-Way to host informational meetings for parents of incoming freshmen
Monday, July 23, 2012
Knowing how intimidating the transition from junior high to high school can be, Lincoln-Way High School District 210 will host a series of informational meetings for parents of incoming freshmen.
"We want parents to be able to put a face with a name," stated Dr. Lawrence A. Wyllie, superintendent, who plans to introduce key administrators at each school, including the principal, associate principals, pupil personnel director and student activities coordinator.
"We want parents to leave here feeling a little more comfortable and a little less anxious about the first day of school," he added.
Every year, the Lincoln-Way District 210 Board of Education hosts a Straight Talk Breakfast with the Superintendent for parents of incoming freshmen at each school. This year's breakfasts are scheduled for the following times:
8 a.m. Aug 7, Lincoln-Way Central, 1801 E. Lincoln Highway, New Lenox
8 a.m. Aug. 9, Lincoln-Way West, 21701 S. Gougar Road, New Lenox
8:30 a.m. Aug. 14, Lincoln-Way North, 19900 S. Harlem Ave., Frankfort
8 a.m. Aug. 17, Lincoln-Way East, 201 Colorado Ave., Frankfort
Parents are asked to call in advance to reserve a seat:
Central, 815-462-2105
West, 815-462-2106
North, 815-462-2977
East, 815-462-2978
Parents will hear Dr. Wyllie share information about the district, its expectations, school test scores, Advanced Placement classes, graduation requirements, discipline and extra-curricular activities.
"We're about kids and improving student achievement," he said. "We pour every ounce of energy we have into student achievement."
