Mu Alpha Theta is a honorary mathematics club. Our chapter is the Alpha chapter in Illinois being founded in April 1957. The objectives of this high school and junior college math club are to promote mathematics, to further the student’s interest in mathematics, and to give the student an opportunity to explore the applications of mathematics. More specifically we host guest speakers, hold fund raiser for the Della Hussey Scholarship Fund, host the Grade School Math Contest, sponsor field trips, allow the students time to socialize with students from other buildings or different schools, and participate in the Mu Alpha Theta National Convention. To become a member, each student must at least: have completed Geometry, and be enrolled in Advanced Algebra, or beyond, and have a B average for all mathematics courses, and have a B average for all classes.
