Welcome to Lincoln-Way West High School. Our school comes from very rich traditions – academically, athletically, and socially. It is my hope that you make the best of your freshman year and take advantage of all that is offered.
The next four years will help to pave the way for your future success. We want to be part of your success while you are here at Lincoln-Way West. This brochure contains useful information – contact information, the bell schedule, important dates, and a number of other resources that will help you prepare for your Lincoln-Way West experience.
I do challenge you to become familiar with our Warrior Code. The Code sets up the expectations we hold for ourselves and our students. Our guiding principle is “By our Deeds We are Known.” This statement is shaped by the four virtues of a Warrior: Wisdom – the ability to judge what is true, right, or lasting; Courage – the spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, or pain without fear; Honor – great respect for yourself, other people, and the rules you live by; and Respect – the esteem for the worth or excellence of a person, a quality, or an ability. This code is the foundation of our culture at Lincoln-Way West. It forms the way you will be treated and the expectations we have of how you will treat yourself and others.
Finally, I want you to know that I am proud of our facilities and our school culture. We have a building that is clean, safe, and spacious, offering our students opportunities to grow academically, athletically, and socially. Please take advantage of the 30 sports offered at our high school. Take advantage of the 40 clubs and activities in which our student body participates. Take advantage of the academic support offered, such as the Writing Center, the Math Center, student tutoring, and the wonderful online resources that help students earn scholarships by improving their scores on state exams.
The building administrators and I look forward to getting to know you. We hope your year is exciting, and we wish you the best of luck.
