ACTIVITIES

Activity Name:
Spanish Honor Society - Capitulo El Escudero

Description:
This Spanish Honors Society was founded by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in 1953, and Lincoln-Way East's chapter was founded in 2005. The name of this chapter is El Escudero. The students who represent this society have demonstrated a strong desire to acquire proficiency in the language and interest in learning of other cultures.

For eligibility for the Spanish Honor Society, students must be taking Spanish 4AP or 5AP and intend on continuing Spanish studies the following year. Students must currently have an overall honors GPA of 3.0 or higher and must have received a minimum grade of a B+ (87%) for each semester of all Spanish classes previously completed at Lincoln-Way East H.S. or at another high school. Students also must display character, leadership, seriousness of purpose, and service/commitment to others. In addition to having the honors distinction, members of the Spanish Honors Society also act as tutors for lower-level Spanish classes at our tutoring sessions. These sessions take place every week on Wednesdays in room 214 after school (2:40-3:05pm).
