The Lincoln-Way East Varsity Girls Golf Team placed second at the IHSA state contest over the weekend. This is the highest finish for any golf team in District 210 history.

“This team has been knocking on the door since they stepped on campus. It takes a lot of skill to be a trophy team in this state. Golf skills and the mental game has to be top level. We are proud of Coach Brian  Shannon, Coach Mike Murphy, and the girls," said Mark Vander Kooi, LWE athletic director.

Coach Brian Shannon said, “I’m extremely proud of the team’s success. There are such a camaraderie between the players. Our first day was a great score. Our second day we improved by eleven strokes. We focused on a positive thought each hole. This helped keep our mental focus sharp.“

Congratulations to the team and coaches on this outstanding achievement.
