The Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 Board of Education has approved a five-year contract for Dr. Michael Duback, who will serve as Deputy Superintendent while continuing his role as Chief School Business Official for the next two years before officially succeeding Dr. Scott Tingley as Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2028.
At last night's meeting, the Board also accepted Dr. Tingley's retirement date of June 30, 2028. Tingley, who has served the district as superintendent for the past 14 years, will work to ensure organizational stability, fiscal continuity, and a seamless transition of leadership for District 210.
Aaron Janik, Board of Education president, said, “The Board is proud to select a leader who is not only exceptionally qualified, but also deeply rooted in our community. As a resident who lives in the Lincoln-Way community with his family, Dr. Duback understands firsthand the values and priorities that are foundational to our District. That connection ensures that every decision will be guided by what is best for our students and the community."
Dr. Duback joined Lincoln-Way in 2021 and has served as Assistant Superintendent and Chief School Business Official for the past five years. During his tenure, he has played a key role in maintaining the district’s financial stability and strengthening its long-term outlook. His impact on the financial stability of the district is reflected in Lincoln-Way’s recent bond rating upgrade to Aa3 in April 2026.
Dr. Duback began his career in education as a high school mathematics teacher in Yorkville. He also served on that district’s gifted and talented team, guiding individualized instruction for K-12 students. In 2014, he moved into central office administration as the Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning, leading curriculum development, student assessments, and school improvement efforts across the district.
Expanding his leadership profile, Dr. Duback was named Director of Business Services in 2016, managing Yorkville’s financial, transportation and food service operations. In 2017, he accepted a role as Chief School Business Official for a school district in La Grange, where he oversaw both human resources and business operations in the district until coming to Lincoln-Way.
"Mike has an understanding of every aspect of school operations," said Dr. Tingley. "I look forward to working with him to ensure a smooth transition."
Dr. Duback earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and music from Illinois Wesleyan University, followed by a master’s degree in education and social policy from Northwestern University, a master’s in educational administration from Lewis University, and an MBA from Concordia University Chicago. He earned his doctorate in educational leadership from the University of St. Francis.
Dr. Duback and his wife, Kim, have been residents of the Lincoln-Way community since 2010. They have two children, Andrew and Evelyn.
