More than 300 Lincoln-Way students were recognized at the Celebration of Biliteracy last night! Students were honored with either a Commendation or a Seal in a designated language.
The Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate high proficiency in English and at least one additional language. Students may qualify through several state-approved assessments in English (such as SAT, ACT, ACCESS, AP English, or other approved measures) and through state-approved assessments in another language (such as AP, STAMP, AAPPL, Avant, IB, or other approved assessments).
Students demonstrating Intermediate High proficiency (or equivalent) may earn the Seal. Students demonstrating Intermediate Low proficiency (or equivalent) may qualify for the State Commendation Toward Biliteracy.

The first of two Lincoln-Way flower sales is coming up this weekend. Visit Lincoln-Way East's greenhouse on Sunday, May 3rd from 11am-2pm and pick up your plants just in time for the weather to warm up.

Children of all ages may listen to stories read by West students, participate in book bingo, and create bookmarks, buttons, paper crafts, and stickers. We will be accepting new or gently used picture books to be given to Bernie’s Books for those who would like to donate. You may arrive at any time between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The stories will be continuous, and bingo will be held every 30 minutes for four sessions beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Please enter through the main doors of Lincoln-Way West where student volunteers will guide you to the library.
West students from Book Club, the West Gazette newspaper, Be the Change, Bring Change to Mind, the Interact Club, and library aides will be available to assist with the activities.

High school students wrote the stories, kindergarteners illustrated them, and the finished books were presented during a special celebration with families. The project challenged students to write stories with meaningful lessons for young readers while still engaging adults.

At last night's board meeting, our student council presidents gave their final address to the Board of Education. They were recognized for their dedication over the last year with a sweatshirt to help them get ready for their next step after Lincoln-Way! Earlier this week, the Griffins kicked off the last stretch of the school year by celebrating the Governor's Blue Ribbon Award at an all-school assembly. In addition to recognizing the entire school community for their hard work and dedication, East also honored students who have achieved academic, athletic, and extra-curricular excellence this school year.
