📕 ACT English test tip of the day: When you come across a question stem like this: The writer is considering deleting the underlined portion. Should the underlined portion be kept or deleted? Consider the following: ✔️When being asked to add, keep, or delete, reread the rest of the paragraph. Consider how the info in question contributes to the paragraph's main topic. Is the info relevant or is it irrelevant and distracting? Would keeping/adding the info make the paragraph easier to understand? Does the info fit at this particular point in the paragraph or does it interrupt the flow? ✔️When being asked to keep or revise, compare the revision to the original. When you read the original, does it seem like something is missing that a revision could resolve? Or, conversely, does the revision feel more vague/less clear than the original? ✔️Once you've decided to keep, add, delete, or revise, evaluate the justification provided and choose the best one. ❤️🖤See your English teacher if you need extra help!❤️🖤

ACT English tips: For punctuation questions, eliminate choices that use unnecessary commas between subjects/verbs, between adjectives/nouns, or between prepositional phrases. Punctuation should match-don't pair a comma with a dash or parentheses. In order to use a semicolon, be sure an independent clause is on both sides of the semicolon. See your English teacher if you need extra practice!❤️🖤
